BREATHE by PacificaArts BREATHE by PacificaArts
Alphonse Elric of FullMetal Alchemist

"This is surrender
To a war-torn life I've lived.
Scars and stripes forever
In need of change I can't resist.

This long of a struggle
Finally opened up my eyes.
Revolution's not easy
With a Civil War on the inside.

No need to hide anything anymore.
Can't return to who I was before.

I can finally breathe.
Suddenly alive.
I can finally move.
'Cause I realize.

I can finally breathe.
Suddenly alive.
I can finally move.
The world feels revived!"

'Breathe' - Anberlin

I heard the song at first and knew it reminded me of something - so I thought up every movie or TV show character that had a meaningful impact on me. Alphonse, of course. He was truly freed from the torture of never feeling rest or the warmth of his brother or friends, freed for the fear that he might be artificial.

But too bad it was only true in the movie. *twitch*

Although...he ought never have had the fear of building his own kingdom of cute girls - it was always possible, armor or not. :giggle: Al's quite a winning character, isn't he?

'Breathe' was prejudged to be a lyrically weak song, but I thought otherwise. :shakefist:

same for me, it reminded me of cute little Al~ ^^ he was finally free again,

WAIT WHAT?! he doesnt get his body back in the manga? :< lol im reading the manga right now XD its so much different from the anime 0.o

true ^^ cause Al is cute even when he doesnt have his body, cause of his awesomely awesome personality, but when he gets his body back, hes even cuter! >3<

well the people who said that didnt look deep enough into the song, anberlin has some songs that would make no sense to anyone by sinply reading or listening to the lyrics, but you have to look into them to figure some out

Well, not yet, no. Al's still in his armor. I won't spoil it for you, but you DO get a small glipse of him as a human in the manga. I think Arakawa-sensei is going to drag it as far as she can, but for me, it's getting tiresome and she's taken more that her fair share in my art box already.

And as for Anberlin, I belong to a Switchfoot forum community (which has a large number of Anberlin fans in it). I told them what I thought of 'Breathe' and backed it up with what it reminded me of. Regardless of referencing Al as an indivicual character, it does have in an intense meaning for those who were, "lost, but now am/are found". It's so peculiar how the members are 'fans', but never bother to really listen to the lyrics of either band except for the sake of repeating them word-for-word at a concert. :blahblah: So useless! Where's the application? Songs are expressions of emotion, so why not learn from them?

I guess that's an art too, huh? Too much to ask. :sarcasm: /rant
Anyhow, I'm glad you noticed the same as I. I love songs with simple and understandable meanings. I hope you enjoy the manga, it's looooooong!

yeah i already got to that part, he was just skin and bone o.o, wait shes still making? the manga, i thought she finished... but then again im slow at things XD

wait im sorry but i didnt get that XD do you mean shes adding in stuff just for the sake of there being something when you say "it's getting tiresome and she's taken more that her fair share in my art box already"?

true when you listen to a song its not there just for entertainment [although that is a part of it] but its there to give a message, well technically a hidden message XD, i guess kinda like TV, its entertaining to watch but theres also a hidden message in each show ;p

i like song where you have to look really deep into them to figure them out ^^ its fun to me ;3 im pretty far in the manga, im at chapter 62 i think?

Nope, Arakawa-sensei is still going stong with her comic. As far as I know, she isn't anywhere near the finish line.

And, no, I don't think she's just flying off the seat of her pants (she's too smart for that), but the story is dragging as far as my impatient self is concerned. Very slow, very scary, very little progress. 17 FMA volumes are dominating my Ouran High School Host Club storage space. I think there are over 90 chapters of FMA now, but I buy my manga legally, so I've only gotten up to volume 17.

Oh, and I have some exciting news for you if you didn't already know: There's going to be a second anime series of FullMetal. Yup! We get to see more of our favorite little alchemists! Apparently it's going to be based upon the manga (but you know that doesn't mean a thing. ;) ). I'm really looking forward to this!

Not every band wants to include meanings in their songs that will improve your life, but Anberlin is one of them - Switchfoot, moreso. :giggle:

I have no idea, but it must have something to do with passion and paychecks.

Yup, that manga is expensive. That's why it ticks me off a bit (though the extra bits ARE the best part. I love them). How's the DN manga? I disliked the anime, sometimes that manga is better for different stories.

I'm not sure when the new series comes out - I haven't been up to date on many things recently. I think I'll take your word for it. ;)

And as for Switchfoot! My gosh, yes you must listen to them.

Enjoy! They are a spectacular band made up of five spectacular individuals.

Aw, thanks so much! :blowkiss: But just in case you were curious, this took three stages of adjustment before I got his face right.

It's colored with Prismacolor markers - expensive, but easy-peasy to use!

Edward acts entirely too much like me - demanding, loud, reckless, (but he has a good heart). So, as opposites attract, I love me a boy with good manners! (Well, if I were to say it any other way, I love them both equally regardless of who eats with his gloves on).

So, thank you, but Ed will just have to deal with it. I enjoy his brother's personality more. :giggle:

Actually, his reaction is in the back of volume 12 of the FMA manga. He was compared to a Atsuki bean...and as a result, at least one facial vein was burst.

I've never seen one burst before. :fear:
But, gosh, the volumes are so depressing right now, you need something of that magnitude to even make you chuckle. :lmao:

Yeah, I like the drama too...but it can be draining. I get a little too into it. :dead: One minute I'm, "OH NO! Ed, don't do it!" The next I'm, "Wow, that bad guy is such an awful person!" The next I'm, "Whoa, this mangaka is so much better then me..." <---just because she can make me react like that.

Ah, the kittens! There's that one lille cat with the stripes down it's back that is always following Al in both the manga and anime. It's hilarious. I think it's me in kitten form.
